I believe they could not determine for sure where the hive is, so they just sealed up the access holes for it.  Let's hope they don't decide to move farther inside the building.  These bees are apparently the ones that were outside the hive when they sealed it.

This is my next-to-last day at my old job and there is a cleanup crew here to stop a bee problem.  Apparently they have a hive between the brick veneer and the rest of the building.  A few have made it inside, but for the most part, they're interested in the pollen, etc, in the woods surrounding the building.  I think they will try to transport the hive if they can locate and remove it.  Might make for another interesting picture if they have to remove a chunk of brick.

Well, I gave my 2 weeks notice with my humble company here on US280.  I will tell you that I certainly won't miss the traffic.  I will still periodically have to venture back to 280 for Target and a few other things, but for the most part my commute to the new place will be much, much easier.

One of my friends from work had a Lunchables for lunch the other day.  I had forgotten that those even existed.  I'd like to think it was intended for one of his children, but it's pretty funny if it wasn't.  It had tiny tacos, a CapriSun, and a little box of Nerds.  Amazing how many memories it brought back.  He added the yogurt.

My team won without me 5-3 on Saturday....  and we lost 3-0 on Sunday.  I believe this is the last game of the season (until the fall).  Maybe it will give my back some time to feel better since it has been hurting.

On Saturday we went to Abby and Judd's wedding.  Congratulations to Abby and Judd!

Laura and her sister Caitlin were enjoying themselves:

Last night I took this picture of a rabbit in our back yard.  Would you believe this picture was taken near dusk without a flash using a 300mm lens?  (I was a considerable distance from the rabbit).  Thanks to having a manual camera and photoshop for helping this picture look normal under such odd lighting conditions.

I forgot to post that on Saturday and Sunday we were in Huntsville:

We went to go see Laura's sister do synchronized ice skating:

We had a soccer game last night...  we lost 1-3.  We had a ref that couldn't blow a whistle very loudly and one of our players ended up with a yellow card for continuing to play after the whistle "blew".  Nevermind the whistle didn't blow a second time before he was given a card.

Our tournament schedule is available here.

Once again Laura outdid herself with her creations for Mother's Day.  This time instead of just a snowman for her mother, she made a cow for mine.  Check them out:

You can see the rest of her creations here.

Laura and I went to my 10 year high school reunion on Saturday...  as many of you know, my graduating class was only 50 people, so there weren't a whole lot of people there.  I will try to get a picture from someone (I didn't take my digital camera into the restaurant).  It was good catching up with the few people that managed to make it.

Wilson (aka "loaner" aka "devil cat") was dropped off at our house while we were up in Huntsville this weekend...  He is my brother-in-law's cat and is used to being an only cat.  Needless to say, when he's over, one of our cats is always hiding and the other one gets a good workout chasing him around (or being chased around).

I took it upon myself to make Laura a birthday cake...  the frosting never really became frosting...

It did finally harden a little and start sticking to the cake.  So I took a knife and believe it or not, it finally looked like a normal frosted cake.  Glad it worked out ok.

This is one of those times that everyone should run and hide.  The Perfect Storm is upon us.  Two of the famed trucks of death were spotted in a row today waiting to get on US280.  I really wish Rob had seen this since he loves these trucks (threatens to turn them in to the police for "cruising" every time he sees one).  His main complaint is that their only purpose is to drive around, which translates into getting in the way since they do things like stay in the left lane going very slowly on very busy streets, etc.  Amos would call the Perfect Storm that would come off of having two such negatively charged objects so close together a "Noreaster".

I believe there is a guerilla war going on in our yard.  On several occasions I have noticed this squirrel digging up nuts from our yard, taking them across the street, and burying them in a neighbor's yard.  Is it rotating nuclear ordinance to keep other squirrels from stealing it?  Or is it stealing from those squirrels to increase its own military standing within the neighborhood?  And when will our squirrels be coming by to teach this one a lesson?

I saw this link and couldn't help but wonder if they put lights on them at Christmas....

http://waynesword.palomar.edu/faketree.htm

There is one of these in Vestavia Hills that doens't even look like a tree...  it looks like a traditional pole with three branches - like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree that has cell antennas on it.

We lost our soccer game yesterday (it was on a saturday instead of a sunday this time).  We had a 2-0 lead at halftime and ended up losing 2-4.  I am quite disappointed.  And as an added bonus, I think about 5 people are injured on our team.  Hopefully the next two weeks (we have next weekend off for Mother's Day) will allow people to heal.
